General Mattis Resignation Letter To President Trump

Dear President Trump,

I am writing to submit my resignation as Secretary of Defense, effective February 28, 2019. It has been an honor to serve in this role, but recent developments have led me to believe that it is time for me to step down.

As you are aware, we have had fundamental disagreements on certain key issues, particularly in the realm of national security and foreign policy. While I have always respected your authority as Commander-in-Chief, I believe that my views are no longer aligned with the direction of the administration.

I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Department of Defense and work alongside our dedicated servicemen and women. I am proud of the progress we have made during my tenure and remain committed to ensuring a smooth transition for my successor.

Thank you for your understanding and support. I am willing to assist in any way I can during the transition period to ensure the continued safety and security of our nation.
